About HRT and BHRT
As men and woman age, their hormone levels decline. This decline creates hormonal imbalances which millions of people are suffering from today. At AMI, we use Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) because different people get different results. HRT uses prescription medication that has been around and tested for many decades. BHRT uses hormones identical in chemical and molecular structure to ones produced by the human body. BHRT uses only plant-derived ingredients and is completely safe. These therapies are essentially molecule for molecule identical to your own hormones. You cannot purchase them at a regular pharmacy, nor can pharmaceutical companies produce them. In most cases, they are compounded specifically for each individual patient in a special pharmacy and are only prescribed by your physician. Both therapies use hormones including testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, Cortisol, thyroid, and many others for treating the aging process.
There are several important hormones you may receive while at AMI as our patient. Based upon lab tests, a physical exam, a questionnaire, and your specific goals, our physicians will prescribe the exact hormones your body needs.
Numerous studies have been done attesting to the safety of supplementing hormones for men and women. Hormone replacement therapies have been successfully used by men and women for decades. In well known medical journals, researchers have reported that the hormones, like estrogen and testosterone, are not only safe but also have a positive impact on some diseases like osteoporosis and prostate cancer.
After the treatments have started, we closely monitor the results of HRT and BHRT to ensure results that are safe and effective. Hormone replacement therapies can assist you in slowing, stopping, and even reversing many of the negative effects of aging and truly rolling back the hands of time.
Aging is difficult enough for women and men without having to suffer from declining hormone levels. Women often complain of a diminished sense of well-being, stubborn weight gain, chronic fatigue, menopause or perimenopause, and a loss of libido. Men often complain of erectile dysfunction, muscle loss, weight gain, andropause (male menopause), and a lower sex drive.
Hormone Replacement Therapy Can Help
Once women and men realize they can restore their hormones, they can restore their energy, feelings of well-being, and sexuality.
Too many of us have failed when trying to find the right combination of estrogen or testosterone hormones. Once this hormonal balance is determined, combining hormone replacement with a healthy lifestyle, stress reduction, exercise, and an appropriate diet, will allow you to return to a healthy and vibrant lifestyle, plus maximize the years in which to enjoy it.
The Importance of Proper Hormone Levels
Hormones are the body’s messengers that transport information from the brain to the glands, from the glands to the cells and from the cells to the brain. They rejuvenate, regenerate, and restore our bodies. We used to believe that as we age, our hormones decline. It is now becoming clear that as our hormones decline, we age! At our peak levels (from age 25-30), our body is the strongest and healthiest. Diet and exercise will not be as effective if your hormones are not balanced correctly. To determine your hormone levels, our physicians thoroughly evaluate your symptoms using cutting-edge diagnostics. We may take blood, urine, and/or saliva to determine your hormone levels and your individual hormone needs. After starting therapy, we will continue to monitor and re-evaluate your levels to make sure they are optimal.

How Do I Begin the HRT Program?
The first step in the process is to fill out our Schedule an Appointment form. Our medical concierge will contact you within 48 hours to confirm your appointment and answer any questions you may have. If you wish to ask a question before coming in for a visit, please Contact us and we will be happy to provide you with any information you need. You may also contact our office by phone at 404-264-9553 or 1-800-343-8362 to schedule an appointment or speak to a member of the AMI team.
During your initial visit, you will complete a questionnaire which asks about current and past health and living habits. Next, you will meet with one of our highly-trained weight loss or anti-aging doctors to review your health history, perform testing, (which includes a physical) and receive a consultation detailing your current health, the goals you want to meet, and how you can achieve them.
If it is likely that you could benefit from hormone replacement or other weight loss or anti aging treatments, you will undergo saliva, urine, and/or blood sampling which will reveal the levels of nutrients and hormones present. This testing will tell if your blood chemistry is accelerating the process of weight gain and aging.
Between the first and second appointments, your lab test will be analyzed and assessed. During your second visit, the test results will be given and the doctor will carefully explain the findings to you. We will suggest an action plan and your treatment will begin immediately!
To ensure your treatment is producing the desired results, your doctor will schedule follow-up visits with you. Keep in mind that everyone is different, and no one size (dose of medicine) fits all. The correct amount of replacement hormones are determined based on laboratory results, individual goals, severity of symptoms, age, gender, and body size. Once the patient and doctor have determined that the treatment is working, the amount of follow-up visits tapers off.
Once your hormones are rebalanced and replenished, you can begin to return to a more healthy and vibrant way of life.
What about Dietary Supplements?
Failing physical and mental health is not what we want in our 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. Real health, long life, feeling and looking great is what we want for ourselves and our families. Since it is increasingly more difficult to get everything we need out of the food we eat, AMI will recommend some important nutraceuticals and other supplements your body requires, especially as you age.
What are the Estimated Costs of hormone replacement therapy?
AMI is focused on improving the patient's life by taking control of it. The cost is determined by the type of service undergone and the type and amount of hormones and supplements prescribed. Typically, this costs about the same as you pay for insurance. The benefits of a longer life plus the savings from a lifetime of better health make this a reasonable form of health care for most people.
During your initial visit, we will determine which parts of the basic program would be most beneficial for you, therefore determining the exact amount of your fees. We have a broad range of fee options to accommodate your personal budget and main objectives.
Treatment at AMI is dependent on lab tests done. AMI doesn’t accept insurance, although the lab testing done in conjunction with treatment is usually covered by most insurance. We will help you with any paperwork necessary for you to provide this to your insurance company. The clinic will provide patients with all the information needed specific to each visit.
What Results Should I Expect from HRT?
Female patients of AMI can expect to see improvements in weight management and loss, body fat, sleep levels, cognitive concentration, heart health, skin tone and fitness, sex drive, menopause or perimenopause, as well as an improved sense of health and prosperity.
Male patients of AMI can expect to see improvements in their erectile function, body fat percentage, greater muscle mass, energy levels, improved memory, and mood, as well an improved bone density.
Both male and female patients benefit from restoring and balancing levels of hormones.
