Hormone Replacement Therapy in Atlanta, GA

WHAT IS HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (HRT)?

As men and women age, their hormone levels decline. This decline creates hormonal imbalances, which millions of people are suffering from today. At Atlanta Medical Institute, we use hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) because different people need different results. HRT uses prescription medication that has been around and tested for many decades. BHRT, on the other hand, uses hormones identical in chemical and molecular structure to ones produced by the human body. It uses only plant-derived ingredients and is completely safe. These therapies are essentially molecule-for-molecule identical to your own hormones. You cannot purchase them at a regular pharmacy, nor can pharmaceutical companies produce them. In most cases, they are compounded specifically for each individual patient in a special pharmacy and are only prescribed by your physician. Both therapies use hormones, including testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, cortisol, thyroid, and many others, for treating the aging process.

There are several important hormones you may receive as one of our patients in Atlanta, GA. Based on lab tests, a physical exam, a questionnaire, and your specific goals, our physicians will prescribe the exact hormones your body needs. After the therapy has started, Dr. Jeff Semel or Dr. Elbridge Bills will closely monitor the results of HRT and BHRT to ensure safe and effective treatment. Hormone replacement therapies can assist you in slowing, stopping, and even reversing many of the negative effects of aging, and truly rolling back the hands of time. HOW DO I BEGIN THE HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY PROGRAM?

The first step in the process is to fill out our Schedule an Appointment form. Our medical concierge will contact you within 48 hours to confirm your appointment and answer any questions you may have. If you wish to ask a question before coming in for a visit, please contact us, and we will be happy to provide you with any information you need. You may also contact our office by phone at 404-777-9155 to schedule an appointment or speak to a member of the Atlanta Medical Institute team.
During your initial visit, you will complete a questionnaire that asks about current and past health and living habits. Next, you will meet with one of our highly trained weight loss or anti-aging doctors to review your health history, perform testing (which includes a physical), and receive a consultation detailing your current health, the goals you want to meet, and how you can achieve them.
If it is likely that you could benefit from hormone replacement or other weight loss or anti-aging treatments, you will undergo saliva, urine, and/or blood sampling, which will reveal the levels of nutrients and hormones present. This testing will tell if your blood chemistry is accelerating the process of weight gain and aging.
Between the first and second appointments, your lab test will be analyzed and assessed. During your second visit, the test results will be given, and the doctor will carefully explain the findings to you. We will suggest an action plan, and your treatment will begin almost immediately. Follow-up visits may also be necessary to track your treatment progress.

HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY FAQS

Does hormone replacement therapy use dietary supplements?
Failing physical and mental health is not what we want in our 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. Real health, long life, and feeling and looking great are what we want for ourselves and our families. Since it is increasingly more difficult to get everything we need out of the foods we eat, Atlanta Medical Institute will recommend some important nutraceuticals and other supplements your body requires, especially as you age.
What are the estimated costs of hormone replacement therapy?
Atlanta Medical Institute is focused on improving the patient’s life by taking control of it. The cost is determined by the type of service undergone and the type and amount of hormones and supplements prescribed. Typically, this costs about the same as you pay for insurance. During your initial visit, we will determine which parts of the basic program would be most beneficial for you, therefore, determining the exact amount of your fees. We have a broad range of fee options to accommodate your personal budget and main objectives.
Why are proper hormone levels important?
Hormones are the body’s messengers that transport information from the brain to the glands, from the glands to the cells, and from the cells to the brain. They rejuvenate, regenerate, and restore our bodies. We used to believe that as we age, our hormones decline. It is now becoming clear that as our hormones decline, we age. At our peak levels (from age 25 – 30), our body is the strongest and healthiest. Diet and exercise will not be as effective if your hormones are not balanced correctly. To determine your hormone levels, our physicians thoroughly evaluate your symptoms using cutting-edge diagnostics.
